Theodore (Ted) Moon, Ph.D., is a technical writer and market researcher whose on-the-job experience as a research scientist and analyst for oil and gas has made him a valued voice in the field. With more than a decade of experience writing in the upstream and downstream sectors, Ted's work touches upon several facets, including the geosciences; drilling; production; health, safety and environment; and refining.
Ted has used his in-depth understanding of energy technology trends to create clear and concise editorial and technical copy for an international clientele. His work ranges from product brochures and business presentations for clients including Nalco Company and KBR to magazine articles and web-optimized copy for Weatherford International, National Oilwell Varco and MicroSeismic, Inc.
Ted also specializes in market research, business plan development and marketing strategy for industries including oil and gas and alternative energy. As an independent market researcher in 2005, Ted researched and wrote a comprehensive report outlining the state of oil and gas exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This report helped a client recoup US$9 million in insurance money for lost business due to the storms.
Ted has held several technical marketing and editorial positions over the past decade, most notably as Technical Marketing Manager for Nalco Company's corrosion inhibitor product line, Technology Editor for Offshore Magazine and the first Technology Editor for JPT Online, the website for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal of Petroleum Technology.
Ted holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a B.S. in chemistry from California University of Pennsylvania.
Ted calls Houston, Texas his own "Lunar Landing", where he lives with wife Emma, children Saoirse and Nathan, two dogs and two frogs.
